Team UR7s

Team UR7s

Young Rugby players develop in different ways and at different speeds. All players at all levels require competition and game time to take what they have learnt in the classroom and on the training park and put it into action ? The Academy coaches will select a squad of players from the senior and junior Academes across all ages each year from all of the Academies nationwide and take teams to tournaments across the UK in the summer and offer players the chance to go to 1 foreign tournament.

Playing against some of the best invitational sides in the UK in front of national and invitational coaches gives players the chance to perform under pressure. It's also an integral part of a young rugby players development to learn how to prepare and recover throughout a long day of rugby 7s. ?

Playing for Team UR7s Academy is akin to representative rugby, it will give players the chance to understand what it's like to play in a professional set up with top coaches and support staff in both the UK and all over the world and most importantly have some fun with some great team mates who players would not normally get the chance to play with. ?

Team UR7s represents all of the Academies taking place in a calendar year. We expect the Academies to be competing with some of the best teams on the circuit and winning!!!

We try to give as many players who attend Academies the chance to pull on the UR7s shirt at all Age-Groups. In 2013 Team UR7s has been represented at U13, U14, U15, U18 and Senior Level in tournaments across the UK and the senior team is competing in the Dubai 7s in November.

In 2013, the UR7s 'Pinks' as they became affectionately known to parents on the sidelines won all three tournaments they entered at U14 and U15 level including the prestigious West Country 7s with players from the Wellington College, Llandovery College and Guildford Academies making up the sides. At U18 level the Academy lost out in the final of the UR7s Championships to a Wales Academy squad under the banner of the Samurai Bulldogs

At the end of 2013, UR7s took a team of players to the Dubai Sevens with the squad including players from the Senior Academies to play alongside University students and young professionals. The players involved had participated in the Llandovery College Academy in May 2013

Team UR7s is an opportunity for players to continue their development in a competitive but fun environment working with some of the best coaches in the country whilst also aim to get results on the field with what has been taught.
