UR7s Men's and Women's Championships

UR7s will be once again hosting Men's Open (16 teams) & Social (16 teams) competitions and a Women's open tournament (12 teams) alongside a netball social tournament on the fields of Basingstoke RFC in Hampshire.

Following the successful inaugural year, UR7s wants to continue it's support of all levels of the game of 7s by hosting a top quality 7s tournament for Men and Women's Open & Social teams including great fun, an awesome atmosphere and coaching clinics for sides taking part if they are welcomed from International 7s players and coaches with the addition of Netball for 2018.

New for 2018 is the Hampshire Club Cup. It does exactly what it says on the tin and is only available for clubs from the county of Hampshire as part of UR7s' development program for the county with £££ and kit on offer as prizes and training sessions with our academy coaches, there are 12 spots available in 2018.

Alongside the rugby will be a firing BBQ, a beer tent, fun and games for the family in an atmosphere that is welcome for all including a farmers market and children's play area.

With cash prizes for cup winning teams as well as signed shirts and tickets for 7s events, it's sure to be one of the 7s festivals to put in the diary for the summer.

New for 2018 is the prize pot. UR7s has committed to an equal prize fund for the Men and Women's open tournaments of £500 to each of the winning teams. The Men's Social Competition winner will win a Team Bar Bill at the Club Bar.

International 7s players will be on hand to host warm-ups before knockout fixtures and half-time team talks hoping to give a little insight into their own experiences and helping where thy can.

UR7s Juniors expands in 2018

UR7s Junior Championships

Moving into our 6th year of hosting the Junior Championships, we have expanded the competition to also include a satellite 'warm-up' tournament in April at Guildford RFC on Saturday April 7th with then the UR7s Junior Championships taking place on it's traditional weekend in Hampshire at Winchester RFC on Sunday 13th May for all entrants from clubs, schools and Invitational sides from across the country.

With competitions at U13, U14, U15, U16 & U17 age-groups the tournament is sure to have a high level of action packed rugby 7s action with teams using the tournament as both an opportunity to demonstrate their 7s skills but also as a development tool for the XVs season.

An additional tournament for 2018

Following feedback from teams, UR7s has launched a satellite tournament at Guildford RFC which will include coaching clinics from international players and some great rugby 7s action. Places are limited in the tournament to age-groups (U14-U17) so an early sign up is imperative. This tournament like the Junior Championships will act as an entry point for the players to be selected for the UR7s National Academy 18/19

A return to Hampshire in 2018

Following 3 incredibly successful years at Basingstoke, we are having to have a fallow year from the club due to unforeseen circumstances. The Junior Championships will take place in it's usual form with international 7s coaching clinics for all teams, top quality play from across the country and a wonderful celebration of 7s on the May 13th at Winchester RFC in Hampshire.

World Class Coaching for all teams taking part

UR7s' CEO, Tom Burwell went on to talk about an exciting element of the tournament 'Due to our position both globally and in the UK through both UR7s and the UR7s Academy we will be inviting a number of international players and coaches to the tournament where they will take 15 minute training sessions with the sides attending and take the team-talks in the latter stages of the games. This will give players and coaches the chance to learn from the very best in the world. The UR7s coaches will also be on hand to help out where needed to guarantee the best quality of 7s. It's going to be a great day'

Each age-group will feature 12 teams with U14s and U15s now featuring 16 teams played across the 5 quality fields at Basingstoke RFC with the BBQ and the bar open all day with many recognisable faces from the world of rugby taking in the action it's a chance for the future stars to make their mark in a tournament that is expected only to grow in the future.

For the first time ever we will also be hosting 'Coach the Coach' Session for all of the coaches involved in the day plus any parents that would like to take part with our Olympic rugby 7s coaches.

UR7s Merchandise will be on sale for the first time ever at the 'stash store"
